The Crossings Animal Society introduces a new program to cover the cost of dog and cat food
for families needing assistance. The impact of COVID-19 has been widespread in our community.  We want to ensure that families who have been financially affected by the pandemic can keep their pets and continue to feed them well.
If you are interested in helping out local pet lovers in this time of need, or if you are in need of assistance please click below to sign up today.
Welcome to the Curbside Kibble Express
A Family-to-Family Pet Food Pantry

This program is a response to the financial difficulties many families with pets are facing due to the impact of COVID-19.

It is a community approach to ensuring that families in need can feed their pets.

Why did The Crossings Animal Society (CAS) create this program?

The impact of COVID-19 on our economy has been widespread. Many families have lost part or all of their income. When money becomes this scarce, families often cannot afford food for their pets. The risk increases that a family pet will be surrendered to a kill-shelter or, out of desperation, sometimes even dumped.

We want all families to be able to keep their pets and feed them well. This program benefits (1) the dogs and cats, who are able to stay with their loving families; (2) the families needing assistance, who want to keep and care for their dogs and cats; (3) the animal lovers in the community, who are looking for ways to help during this crisis and are in a position to do so; and (4) the local pet food stores, from which the pet food will be purchased at a discount.

How does the Curbside Kibble Express work?

Participating in the program starts by registering on our website. Families sign up who would like to donate the monthly cost of pet food for a recipient family. Families in need of assistance sign up as well.

Whether the family is donating or receiving food, they can choose to be identified by the other family or to remain anonymous.

Once a donor family is matched to a family needing assistance, CAS contacts the donor family with the amount of the donation for a month’s worth of pet food. The donation is then made through PayPal on our website.

Within two days, the recipient family is contacted by CAS, and can pick up their pet food curbside at the participating pet store location they have chosen.

Curbside Kibble Express is working with local pet stores, who have also been kind enough to discount the cost of the pet food for this program.

How can your family get assistance through the Curbside Kibble Express?

Signing up is easy!  Log onto our website, www.TheCrossingsAnimalSociety.org and click on “Assistance Sign Up” in the top box of the Home Page.  Complete the registration form, and click “Submit”. Within 48 hours, you will be contacted by a CAS staff member or volunteer. S/he will be your contact person throughout the program, letting you know when your food is ready for curbside pickup, providing you whatever information you need, and answering your questions.

How can your family help by becoming a sponsor for Curbside Kibble Express?

Again, signing up is easy!  Log onto www.TheCrossingsAnimalSociety.org and click on “Sponsor Sign Up” in the top box of the Home Page.  Complete the registration form, and click “Submit”. Within 48 hours, you will be contacted by a CAS staff member or volunteer, thanking you for becoming a sponsor. S/he will be your contact person throughout the program.

Your CAS contact will reach out to you when there is a family needing assistance that looks like a good match. If you agree to help this family, you will be told the amount of the donation for food (which is tax-deductible). You then make the donation by clicking the “Donate” button on the top right of our website Home Page, entering the donation amount, then clicking “Use this donation for” and indicating “Curbside Kibble Express”.

Your donation will be processed in 1-2 days, and the recipient family will pick up the food for their dog or cat!

If you have any questions or need additional assistance, please email CAS at info@CrossingsAnimalSociety.org or leave a voicemail at (215) 321-4673.
