ANIMAL WELFARE ADVOCACY
The Crossings Animal Society (CAS) is actively involved in animal welfare advocacy, supporting and promoting public action and community education. Our goal is to help improve the health and well-being of companion and other animals,
and the conditions in which they live.
CAS engages in animal welfare advocacy in three ways:
(1) Participation in Legal Advocacy
CAS is a member of Humane Action Pennsylvania (HAP). This organization collaborates with colleagues, sponsors, legislators and community leaders to create programs and promote legislation “to advance the protection of all animals.”
One of HAP’s recent achievements was the passage of PA Act 146, which extends Protection from Abuse orders to include companion animals.
As part of Humane Action Pennsylvania, CAS is also a member of the Ending Companion Animal Cruelty Coalition.
(2) Community Outreach and Education
CAS provides presentations, programs, and workshops on a variety of animal welfare issues to local schools, businesses, civic and community organizations, and places of worship.
(3) Facilitation of Animal Cruelty and Neglect Reporting
Through our website, CAS provides information on how and when to report animal cruelty or neglect, as well as pet emergency situations occurring in Bucks County, PA and Mercer County, NJ. Specific contact information, including names and phone numbers, are also provided.
