Dan joined The Crossings Animal Society (CAS) Advisory Council in 2022 after several years of involvement as a donor and supporter. While his involvement began with a lifelong love of animals, it deepened as he saw how strategically CAS operates. Having served on other nonprofit boards, Dan was struck by CAS’s commitment to directing resources directly toward the animals. Drawn to CAS’s hands-on, volunteer-driven approach, Dan values its focus on impact and its commitment to putting animals first. “CAS is truly grassroots — hands-on, volunteer-driven, and focused on impact rather than overhead,” he says. As a member of our Advisory Council, Dan provides strategic guidance shaped by decades of leadership experience, helping ensure the organization remains sustainable, effective, and mission-focused. Just as important, he brings a sense of humor to our table and believes good work is best done in an environment where people feel comfortable, connected, and willing to laugh along the way. Dan brings extensive executive and operational experience to his advisory role. He holds an undergraduate degree and an MBA from the University of North Carolina, with a focus on economics and business. He spent most of his professional career in broadcasting, serving in senior leadership roles across multi-station radio groups in highly competitive markets. As an executive vice president and operating officer, Dan oversaw all functional departments while maintaining responsibility for profitability and long-term strategy. Those roles gave him a “deep understanding of how organizations work from the inside out,” he says. Beyond broadcasting, Dan has served on several boards, including chambers of commerce and homelessness-focused organizations, further shaping his perspective on nonprofit governance and community impact. At home, Dan can usually be found spending time with his dogs Rocky and Riggs, who remind him daily of CAS’ mission. Dan tells us, “Animals give back so much to the human spirit. That’s what keeps me involved.”

Tip joined the CAS Advisory Council following years of collaboration between CAS and the Humane Society of Grand Bahama, where she serves as Executive Director. With nearly 26 years of hands-on shelter experience, she brings operational expertise grounded in open-admission sheltering, field services, and international rescue coordination. Tip advises CAS on transport logistics, tropical and vector-borne diseases such as heartworm, and best practices for dogs transitioning out of shelter environments. Her experience strengthens CAS’ ability to expand partnerships responsibly while maintaining high animal welfare standards. Tip has been with the Humane Society of Grand Bahama for almost 26 years. She began as a volunteer before stepping into field services performing what she describes as “basically animal control” during a pivotal period for the organization. When leadership transitioned, she helped formalize governance, recruiting a board of directors to stabilize and guide the shelter’s future. Within a few years, she was named Executive Director, a role she has held ever since. Prior to her work in animal welfare, Tip studied criminal justice and worked in business management and accounting-related roles — experience that continues to inform her operational and financial oversight today.

Steve Eisen joined The Crossings Animal Society (CAS) Advisory Council to share more than four decades of experience in human resources, employee relations, and organizational leadership. He became connected with CAS through Executive Director Yvonne, whom he knows through their synagogue community. Throughout his career, Steve advised leaders, helped organizations navigate workplace challenges, and supported employees through periods of growth and change. He brings this experience to CAS as the organization continues to build its team and volunteer structure, providing guidance on the people and organizational side of the work. Steve began his HR career with ARA Services (now Aramark) shortly after college before moving into HR leadership roles at Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company. His work included employee relations, employment practices, EEO matters, ADA policy implementation, employee orientation programs, and early HR information systems. Steve spent 25 years with Penn Medicine, advancing through leadership roles as the organization expanded. He provided HR guidance to management on a wide range of employee and organizational matters before retiring in 2018. After retirement, Steve returned to HR part-time because he enjoyed the field and the opportunity to continue the work he had spent his career doing. Steve and his wife have shared their home with four cats over the years and now enjoy spending time with their son’s dog, their family’s “granddog.” One of Steve’s favorite adoption stories comes from the first cat he adopted from the SPCA in Philadelphia. While walking through the shelter, a cat reached through the kennel and touched his arm. Steve jokes that he didn’t choose the cat — the cat chose him.
