The 2027 calendar theme is

"I’m Rescued & Happy!"

The contest opens Thursday, September 10 at8:00 a.m. and closes at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026.

Hello, Animal Champions!

We’re getting ready for the 8th Annual Rescue Pet Calendar Contest — and this year, we want HAPPY.

Our 2027 theme is “I’m Rescued & Happy.”

This year’s contest celebrates that happiness, and the happiness rescue pets bring us in return.

There are so many ways our pets show us they're happy. We’re looking for it in all its forms. For example:

♥️ The favorite-toy face♥️ The completely contented nap

♥️ The belly-up bliss

♥️ The “look what I can do” moment

♥️ The absolutely unhinged sleeping position

♥️ Any look that says, “I love my life.”

And yes, cats can absolutely enter even if their version of happiness is looking completely unimpressed. We get it.

Entries open Thursday, September 10 at 8 AM and close October 18 at midnight.



The contest is open to all companion animals adopted through a rescue or shelter, or found as a stray — dogs, cats, bunnies, pigs, ferrets and more.

We’re also introducing some fun new features this year, including: 🌅 Early Bird Bonus: The first 15 entries receive 25 bonus votes!

🏆 New Mini Contests: Including a winner whose votes come from the most individual donors, and a Judge's Choice award! The happy rescue pets of each mini-contest winner will receive a giant gift basket, valued at $300.  🌈 Rainbow Bridge Memorial: A new way to honor a beloved pet who has crossed the Rainbow Bridge.



And don’t forget — you can still reserve a calendar day for any pet, whether they’re a rescue or not.

Best of all, every accepted contest entry will appear in the calendar, while the 12 pets receiving the most votes will earn a featured full-page spread. You check out last year's final calendar here.

In addition to the fun being a part of "I'm Rescued and Happy", your participation will be aiding the work of The Crossings Animal Society. The net proceeds from this contest and the calendar sales that follow will help support dogs and cats in need, including Bosco's Fund, which provides preventative veterinary care to low-income families, and Boris & Natasha's Veterinary Fund, which supplements the cost of life-sustaining veterinary care.
