A Boris & Natasha's Alert: Diva Needs Your Help!

We are asking your help today to assist in diagnosing Diva's mobility problems.

Diva has been part of The Crossings Animal Society family for several years. She was adopted into a loving home in 2023 but recently returned to us this spring after one of her adoptive parents passed away and the other moved into memory care. Their adult children knew Diva needed us, and we were happy to take her back into our care.

Since then, she's had a wonderful foster family who stepped up for her throughout the spring and summer — even in the middle of their own vacation plans — while we've worked to find her next home.

Diva is one of those dogs who is just ridiculously easy to be around. So easygoing, in fact, that it wasn't immediately obvious just how much pain she was quietly enduring.



Diva had been receiving Librela injections for her arthritis at Indian Walk Veterinary Center. But shortly after her last injection, her foster family noticed she was having increasing difficulty getting up and walking. One day, she just could not stand up. They alerted us right away.

Thinking that her arthritis had worsened, we scheduled an appointment at VCA Animal Healing Center to evaluate her for a possible holistic approach to augment the Librela.



During that appointment with Dr. Sharon Marks at VCA, it appeared that Diva's problem might be neurological. While awaiting further testing to determine her diagnosis, Diva received aquapuncture, a procedure that reduces pain by applying pressure to specific points on her body, as well as additional pain medication. Those treatments have helped make her more comfortable for now, although they cannot tell us why Diva is having trouble standing and walking. Diva needs further veterinary evaluation, including X-rays and additional diagnostic testing, to help determine what is happening. She also needs ongoing aquapuncture sessions to help keep her comfortable.

Diva still wants to be on the move. Even when it is difficult, she keeps trying. She still loves getting out for walks, and one of her absolute favorite pastimes is a long car ride. Then it's back home for her afternoon snoozes and whatever else Diva has planned for the day. Usually, it's a little chewing on a toy or treat.
