THANK YOU FOR SAVING MYA’S LIFE: A Boris & Natasha's Fund Update
We have some very good news to share: Mya is now home and recovering!
Last week, we reached out and asked for your help to save Mya, a Huskie puppy experiencing an intestinal blockage.
We knew Mya required emergency surgery. What we didn't know at the time was that, if Mya's surgery was delayed by even a day, she likely would not have survived.
Working with Gina Eisenhower, the hospital manager at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough, N.J., we were able to seamlessly arrange for Mya's procedure. The surgery was extensive. Whatever Mya had swallowed required removing nearly six feet of her small intestine! Although she had not become septic, there was already evidence of sepsis in her stomach. All told, it was a close call for Mya and her family.
Her initial recovery went well, enabling her family to take her home the following evening. Now, Mya is home, stitched up and resting with antibiotics and pain medication. She’s started to eat on her own and use the bathroom again. Her family even got her some recovery PJs so she can relax without the cone now and again while she heals. (See above photo.)
Mya will take a while to mend, and will require ongoing care and supervision, but the important thing is that she is HOME and is expected to make a full recovery. And that is thanks to you.
We also want to give a very special thank-you to the clinical and administrative staff at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital in Hillsborough. We are particularly grateful to Mya’s surgeon, Dr. Lindsay Nussbaum and the entire ER team who provided Mya's surgical aftercare.
